Heat Recovery Ventilator (HRV) Balancing & Inspection
Do you own an HRV (heat recovery ventilator)? If so, it may not have been “balanced” upon install. Balancing an HRV is important because a balanced HRV will remove an equal amount of stale indoor air from your home as it will bring in fresh air from outside. An unbalanced HRV will not dehumidify as intended, will operate at reduced efficiency, and will cause unwanted drafts in your home. An HRAI certified ventilation technician will connect a meter to your HRV and adjust the airflows so that they’re equal. Once complete, the airflow numbers will be displayed near the HRV, typically in CFM (cubic feet/minute).
